You have a lower limb disability and always were dreaming of flying?

Well, then our advise to you is simple: Just stop dreaming and check out a few things on this site to find out whether the flying sport is no longer a dream for you. First have a look at the "Wanna Fly?" page. Then download all needed information files from our download file. Read all of them carefully. And if you can conclude that you can meet the medical criteria to obtain a student pilot license, then feel free to complete the contact formulary and send it to kris@handflight.be. We will be happy to contact you and to answer all of your questions. If there is any chance you can learn to fly, then we will get you airborne.

Handflight is a fund, created on the 8th of May 2009 for a first term of 5 years. The fund was created under the wings of the the King Baudouin Foundation. Major objectives are to open up the world of recreational flight to the people with a lower limb disability in Belgium.
In France and England, as well as in the United States there are already hundreds of disabled pilots. Disabled pilots started flying the years 1970 in France, and since then invented all kind of hand controls that gave them the possibility to control sport aircraft in a safe way, despite a lower limb disability. In a few months the flying sport will be made accessible to disabled pilots here in Belgium as well.

Yes indeed. We have objectives, we have ideas. But we don't limit ourselves to ideas only. On September the 26th we inaugurated our first big project in Belgium. At Ursel airfield, the first adapted  sports aircraft in Belgium was inaugurated and presented to the national press. We would like to congratulate Vliegclub Ursel and also express our warm gratitude for the enthusiasm and their professional help to make this project within their club such a big success.

For now already 4 disabled persons are preparing themselves for the medical check ride to get the student license and medical certificate on the adapted Piper P28A-181 (OO-VFR) in Vliegclub Ursel.

And as we speak ... our first big project already is being finalized
